Intel’s next generation chip, Core M is set to turbocharge your laptops and tablets. It will concentrate on convertibles, ultra-portables and tablets. According to Intel, it is the most energy efficient processor in company’s history at 4.5 W. They will arrive next month as Acer, Asus, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo and Toshiba will start delivering new gadgets.

These processors will fall in the “Broadwell” family– after the current Haswell family. The three versions released will be Intel Core M-5Y10, the 5Y10 a, both clocked at as much as 2GHz and the M-5Y70, clocked at up to 2.6 GHz. These are NOT the replacements for standard fourth generation for high-end laptops, those will be introduced next year.

Kirk Skaugen, general supervisor of Intel’s individual computing division said, “You can get the best of both worlds( tablets and) in one device, but we believe there’s been something missing from this classification: a purpose-built processor for it.”

The Core M deals 50% more CPU efficiency along with 40% faster graphics efficiency compared to last year’s Core i5-4302 Y.

These chips will significantly lower power consumption and as a result power dissipation. We will also see a fanless design in laptop computers which reduces the size and weight of the devices.

Intel initially teased these processors earlier this summer season, in the type of a 7.2mm-thick tablet that was even thinner than the iPad Air.

Other features of these processors include Wireless Show 5.0; Intel’s Smart Noise technology, which enables the device to wake on voice. It will make it possible to wake up a laptop computer or tablet just by stating “Hello, computer system” and make it possible for the computer to be operated as a voice controlled virtual assistant.
